Community: rooms, voice, screen and a shared chart

6 min read · How to set up your own community on one computer, connect the others and review trades together: chat, voice, screen sharing and a shared chart.

Level:

Short version for experts: tables, lists and screenshots only.

Words in this lesson (11)
Long — Buying in the hope that the price will rise. Buy lower, sell higher.
Short — Selling in the hope that the price will fall: you sell something borrowed, then buy it back cheaper. You make money when the price drops.
Stop — A price chosen in advance at which the trade is closed at a loss, so the loss doesn't grow bigger.
Target (take-profit) — A price chosen in advance at which the trade is closed with a profit.
Order book — The list of all buy and sell orders at every price at this very second.
Open interest — How many futures positions are currently open in the market. Rising — new money is coming in; falling — money is leaving.
Timeframe — What stretch of time one candle on the chart shows: a minute, an hour, a day.
Candle — A bar on the chart for one stretch of time: where the price opened, where it closed, its high and its low.
Breakout — The price has gone through a level and held beyond it.
Position — An open trade: what you have bought or sold and haven't closed yet.
Deposit (account) — The money in your trading account.

What it is

"Community" is a separate block in the menu. It's traders talking right inside MAMAY: rooms with chat, direct messages, voice, camera, screen sharing and a shared chart. Messages and calls go through the computer you've chosen as the server — there are no outside servers on the internet.

For now the community works within one network: for example, at home or in an office where the computers are connected to the same router.

One computer is the server

Pick the computer that stays on longer than the others. On it:

  1. Open ↗ "Community" in MAMAY and turn on "This computer is the community server", then enter your name.
  2. Windows will ask about the firewall — allow access for private networks (for both MAMAY and livekit-server). Without that, the other computers can't reach it.
  3. At the top you'll see this computer's address (for example, 192.168.3.89) and an invite code (like ABCD-1234). You give these to the others.

The server works while MAMAY is open on this computer. Close MAMAY and the community goes quiet; open it again and the server starts by itself.

The other computers

On every other computer: "Community" → "Connect" → the server address, a name and the invite code. Each computer is a separate member with its own name.

A server on the internet. When the community lives not on a computer in the room but on a server on the internet, the address is a name like community.mamaytrading.com (no numbers or port): MAMAY turns on a secure connection by itself. The community leader signs in first — the "I'm the leader — the owner of this server" checkbox and the owner key from the file the server issues; members use the same address and the invite code.

You can change the invite code with the "new" button next to it: the old one stops letting new people in, while those already connected stay. The host can remove a member: the list on the right → "Remove from community".

Rooms and messages

WhatHow
Rooms"# general", "# trade reviews", "🔊 voice review"; the host adds their own
Direct messagesclick a member on the right → "Message privately"
Reply, edit, deletehover over a message — buttons appear
Reactionshover over a message: quick MAMAY reactions (approval, FOMO, laugh, breakout, take-profit, shock), the 🙂 button opens the full set
Emoji in textthe 🙂 button on the right of the input line: recent ones, 64 MAMAY emoji by section (market, profit and risk, signals, emotions, humor, chat, tools) and regular emoji; search in Russian and English — "bull", "stop", "profit"
Fast, from the keyboardtype : and the start of a word — :bull, :fomo — MAMAY suggests matching emoji (arrows and Enter). A message of one to three emoji is shown large, like a sticker
Mentionstype @ — MAMAY suggests members (arrows and Enter); the mentioned person's message is highlighted, a sound plays and a banner pops up, even if they're on another tab
Files and screenshotsdrag them into the input line, paste with Ctrl+V or use the paperclip; up to 50 MB. A picture opens over MAMAY on click
Trade cardticker, entry, stop and target in one card; the other person gets "Open in my MAMAY"

Alert channel: the leader and curators give signals to the group

The opinion leader is the community host. They and the curators they appoint watch the market, and when they see a situation they send an alert — it reaches every group member at once.

WhoWhat they do
The leader (host)creates "Alert channels" (the "+" button), appoints curators: a member on the right → "Make curator" (and "Remove curator")
The leader and curators"⚡ Alert the group" in the channel, or "⚡ Alert" above any chart (Alt+A while the mouse is over the chart): the ticker and price are filled in automatically, entry/stop/target come from a drawn "Long/Short position". All that's left is to choose long/short, write what you see and the time frame — Ctrl+Enter
Membersdon't post in the channel; every alert arrives as a pop-up with a sound on any MAMAY tab: "What to do?", "Chart", "To channel". Group alerts also appear in the "Signals" feed (the "⚡ Group" section)

"What to do?" opens the signal card: based on the live price, MAMAY tells you whether the alert is still valid — "Valid, you can enter as planned", "Waiting for the entry price", "Too late — more than half the way to the target is done", "The price is already beyond the stop". Next to it — a mini chart with the levels, reward/risk as planned and from the current price, and the "Open in Terminal" and "Plan to chart" buttons. The decision and the position size are always yours.

The alert sound is set in "notifications" as a separate line — "Alerts from the leader and curators".

Voice messages

The 〰 button in the message line: press it — speak — ✓ (or Enter) — the voice message is sent. Esc cancels. Up to 5 minutes. Works in DMs and in rooms: everyone listens in their own MAMAY, nobody disturbs anybody, one voice message plays at a time.

The recipient gets a player: ▶, a "waveform" (click it to seek), speed 1× / 1.5× / 2× and a "T" button — transcribe to text. Transcription runs on this computer (the same Whisper as voice input), the text appears below the voice message; pressing "T" again hides it.

Voice input — dictate instead of typing

The 🎙 button in the message line: press it — speak — press ✓ (or Enter). MAMAY recognizes speech right on this computer and inserts the text into the line — you can correct it before sending. Esc cancels. While recording you see the time and the volume; there's a RU / RU+EN switch: "RU" — Russian speech, "RU+EN" — the language is detected automatically (an English phrase is written in English). One recording — up to 3 minutes.

The first time, MAMAY offers to "Download once (~0.6 GB)" (the internet is needed only for that). After that, voice input works offline: the audio goes nowhere. MAMAY knows trader vocabulary ("breakout candle", "long", "open interest") and members' names — it spells them correctly. A short message is recognized in 2–4 seconds, a minute of speech in about 20–25 seconds on a 4-core computer.

The number next to the menu item shows how many messages are unread.

Notifications

The "notifications" button at the top of "Community" — what plays a sound and which sound: a direct message, an @mention of you, messages in shared rooms, "calling you to voice", a DM call, a conversation started, someone joined your conversation, screen sharing started. Each has its own sound (ding, chimes, drop, coin, soft, ring) and ▶ to listen. Overall volume and "do not disturb".

The banner pops up over any MAMAY tab — even when you're on the chart. "Open" takes you to the room, "Join" — straight into the conversation. "Calling you to voice" and a DM call keep ringing until you answer, click "Decline" or the other person hangs up (no longer than 30 seconds).

Call someone in: in a voice room, the "call in" button → choose a member — their MAMAY rings.

My profile and avatar

Click your name at the top of "Community": a name and an avatar — one of 30 MAMAY avatars (bull, bear, whale, eagle, lion, wolf, charts, bitcoin, the signature "M" and others), your own photo (MAMAY crops it into a square) or the initials of your name. All members see your avatar.

Messages from one person sent within a minute are grouped into one block; after more than a minute a new block starts with its own time. The time of each message is also visible on hover.

Room files

On the right there's a "Files" tab: everything sent to the open room, in one place. Pictures as tiles, documents as a list: name, size, who sent it and when. There's search and an "Images / Documents" filter. The community owner can delete a file for everyone — the trash icon next to the file (others don't have it): the file disappears from the chat too. The ↳ icon next to a file — "Show in chat": MAMAY scrolls to the message with that file and highlights it. The 📁 button in the chat header opens this tab.

Make it your own

  • Panel borders can be dragged with the mouse: the room list on the left and the member panel on the right can be made wider or narrower. The right panel can be hidden.
  • The 🎨 button in the chat header: background (glow, gold, chart grid, candles, dots, night, sunset or your own picture up to 2.5 MB), background brightness, text size.
  • Message time — by default the same as the MAMAY clock on the left (your computer's time); you can pick any time zone. Everyone sees their own: a message sent at 15:53 Moscow time shows as 16:53 for a trader in Dubai.

The appearance is stored on your computer and doesn't change for other members.

Voice, camera and screen sharing

In a voice room click "Join voice". At the bottom are the microphone, camera and "share screen" buttons (you can choose the whole screen or a single window). The first time, MAMAY asks for permission to use the microphone or camera — click "Allow".

Someone else's screen share is shown large at the top. Drag its bottom edge to change the height. The ⤢ button — "large": the share takes the whole column and the chat is hidden (the same button brings it back). A double click or the button in the corner — full screen. The corner of the share shows what's actually arriving, for example "3440×1440 · 30 fps".

The screen is sent at your monitor's native resolution (up to 4K) and up to 30 frames per second — a wide screen isn't squeezed, and the small text of the order book and scales stays readable. If a viewer has a weak connection, they get fewer frames per second, but at the same sharpness.

Next to "share screen" is the share mode (chosen before you start sharing):

  • "conversation" — a delay of about 0.3 s: convenient for discussing and answering questions;
  • "broadcast" — like a YouTube stream, but with a 1-second delay instead of 20: viewers have a buffer, so the picture doesn't stutter even if the network is uneven. Your voice is delayed together with the screen — your words and the cursor movement stay in sync. Viewers see "· broadcast" in the corner.

If the share freezes — click "connection ▾" in the corner of the share. MAMAY shows what's actually arriving (size, frames per second, bitrate), by which route (UDP — good; TCP or a relay — means UDP isn't getting through, often because of a VPN), network delay, packet loss and how many times the picture froze, and in one line — what's most likely getting in the way. The person sharing sees the same summary under the "You're sharing your screen" line: there you can see what the sending is limited by — the internet connection or the processor. The "copy" button lets you send the numbers to whoever is helping you sort it out.

If the share stutters on your own side — share a single MAMAY window rather than the whole screen: the picture is smaller and easier on your computer.

Push-to-talk — the "push-to-talk" button next to the microphone: the microphone is on only while a key is held down (by default the ` key, left of 1; next to "push-to-talk" there's a button with the key — click it and then the key you want). Handy in a big conversation: nobody hears your keyboard or your room. The key works on any tab while the MAMAY window is active; in an input field that key types a character (F keys work there too).

One person shares a screen in a room at a time. If someone is already sharing, when you click "share screen" MAMAY will say: "… is sharing their screen now. You can share yours when they're done". The community owner can share instead of the current person — their share stops with an explanation.

MAMAY doesn't show your own broadcast to you: when sharing the whole screen, the picture would capture itself ("mirror tunnel"). Instead you see the line "You're sharing your screen". It's better to share the MAMAY window rather than the whole screen: that way nothing extra gets into the frame.

Camera background — the "background" button next to the camera: no background, blur (light or strong), ready pictures ("Trader's office", "MAMAY", "Emerald", "Sunset") or your own picture. How others see you is shown in your tile at the bottom (with a picture background — not mirrored, so the text reads correctly). A model right on this computer (using the graphics card) separates the person from the background: no internet needed, frames go nowhere. The choice is remembered and turns on with the camera. The first time takes a couple of seconds. If the button is grey, the computer doesn't support background replacement (a graphics card with WebGL2 is needed).

The "streamer mode" checkbox hides amounts and balances on your screen — just like "👁 hide" in the "Account" block. Turn it on before sharing your screen.

Shared chart

This isn't video, but the lines themselves: everyone sees the host's markup on their own MAMAY chart — with their own candles, zoom and scrolling.

  1. In "Terminal", above the chart, the host clicks "to room" and picks a room.
  2. Members see a bar above their chart: "R is leading BTC · 1h in "general"" → "Watch". Their chart switches to the same coin and timeframe by itself, and the host's markup appears.
  3. The host changes the coin or timeframe or draws a new line — everyone sees it update immediately.
  4. "Copy the markup to my chart" copies the host's lines into your own markup for that coin. Without it your markup doesn't change: the host's lines are stored separately.
  5. "Disconnect" — go back to your own chart. The host stops sharing with the same button.

In one room, one person leads the chart: until they stop, nobody can take over.

Passing the pen. The host draws not in their personal markup but in the shared markup of the session (which starts as a copy of theirs). The "pass" button next to "leading in …" → choose a member — for example, a curator: the pen is theirs, and they continue on the same markup — drawing, erasing, adjusting lines, while everyone (including the previous host) sees the changes. The pen can be passed on. The community owner can click "Take the pen" in the bar above the chart at any time. Everyone's personal markup stays untouched — "Copy the markup to my chart" copies the shared one into yours.
