What to expect from trading and a plan for your first month

6 min read · Why most people lose, how a system differs from luck, and what to do in the first 30 days.

Short version for experts: tables, lists and screenshots only.

Words in this lesson (6)
Stop — A price chosen in advance at which the trade is closed at a loss, so the loss doesn't grow bigger.
Leverage — Money borrowed from the exchange. With 10x leverage, your $100 opens a $1,000 position: both profit and loss are ten times bigger.
Volume — How much money or how many units changed hands over a period. A move on high volume is more reliable than one on low volume.
Setup — A ready trading rule: under what condition to enter, in which direction, where the stop and the target are.
Screener — A filtering program: it scans hundreds of stocks or coins and shows only those that match the given criteria.
DEMO — The DEMO account in MAMAY: prices and fees are real, orders don't go to the exchange, and no real money is at risk.

Honestly about the numbers

Most people who start trading lose money. The reason is almost never that they "didn't find the secret strategy". There are three reasons:

  1. Size too big — one trade decides the fate of the account.
  2. No stop — the loss grows until it becomes unbearable.
  3. No records — the person doesn't know what works for them and repeats the same mistakes.

The good news: none of these three is about intelligence or luck. They're about discipline, and discipline can be built.

How a system differs from luck

One trade proves nothing. You can do everything wrong and make money. You can do everything right and lose.

A system is a rule that ends up in profit over a large number of trades. The only way to check that is with numbers.

That's why almost every signal in MAMAY comes with statistics: how many times the rule worked, what share of trades were profitable, how much they brought on average. The "Signal performance" tab shows what actually happened to the signals.

The most important idea about screeners

A screener is a program that scans hundreds of stocks and coins and shows the most interesting ones.

It has a score from 0 to 100. Remember right away: the score answers the question "will there be a strong move here", not "which way it will go". Where to enter is shown only by setups: ready rules with tested statistics.

A plan for the first 30 days

Week 1 — watch.

  • Go through the "From zero" and "Getting started" lessons.
  • Every day open "Terminal" and one screener. Don't buy anything — get used to the screen.

Week 2 — first trades in DEMO.

  • DEMO mode.
  • One or two trades a day, no leverage, with a stop and a target.
  • Use the "Accept scenario" button — it fills in the entry, stop and target for you.

Week 3 — count the risk.

  • Go through the "Risk" lesson.
  • Every trade — no more than 1% of the DEMO account at risk.

Week 4 — review.

  • Open "My trades: review" in the learning section.
  • See which mistakes repeat. Ask the mentor what to do about them.

Real money — only after that, and only a small amount you're fully prepared to lose.

Nobody becomes a trader in a week. But a month in DEMO is enough to understand the main thing: whether you can follow your own rules.
